NCAA Division 1 Post-Season History

July 1, 2016
2016 is in the books with a satisfying finish as the CWS required all three "if necessary" games to decide the champion. Sad to have the final game played when nobody could watch, but it was fun.

Scoring

Scoring was slightly up from 2015 overall, and up a full run per game for the post season.
scoring in the SR era
The jump in post-season scoring is a fluke, though. Pitching dominated the super-regional and CWS rounds, with about 1.5 and 2 runs per game fewer than 2015 respectively.

Team and Conference Post-Season History

I've put together some references for team results over the 64-team tournament era, updated to include 2016. Each time is assigned a score based upon where they finished in seasons when they made the post season, weighted by how recently the finish occurred.
Post-Season finish For each year, indicate the team's finish by:
RegTeam was in the field
SRTeam won a regional
CWSTeam won a super-regional
2ndTeam won a CWS bracket
ChampTeam won the championship
Team summaries
Teams' overall record, total appearances, regional championships, super-regional record, CWS appearances, CWS record, number of times runner-up, number of championships.
Interconference post-season head-to-head includes these reports:
OverallRow-conference post-season record in all post-season games. The row-conference name links to the interconference results for each year a conference team participated in the tournament.
RegionalsSame as above but includes only games played in the Regional round.
Super-RegionalsIncludes only games played in the super-regional round.
CWSInterconference results in CWS games.
